University girl gives birth in boyfriend’s room

A student at one of the universities in Eldoret gave birth in her runaway boyfriend’s room, embarrassing the young man and sending shockwaves across the campus. The First Year girl is reported to have been dating a senior student since she joined the institution in April last year.

“She was very excited when she learnt of her pregnancy last year and even told us about it,” her friend told Crazy Monday on condition of anonymity.

After completing her First Year of study in November last year, she went home for a long holiday but left her boyfriend in college because his classes were still in session.

Lovers

But in her absence, and this is common in universities, her man took on other lovers and neglected to as much call the woman who was expecting his child back in her village.

Being from a humble background, her parents were worried about how she would fend for their grandchild as her pregnancy progressed. The uncertainty and apprehension prompted them to enquire from their daughter whether the man responsible for the pregnancy was willing and able to assist in taking care of the child.

Surprisingly, when she called, her calls were never answered. When her parents realised nothing was forthcoming from the man, they asked their daughter to go look for him.

The distraught young woman had no option but to go to the university in search of her boyfriend, despite the man not picking her calls.

Luckily, he had not changed residence and thus, she easily located his hostel room and found him. Seeing the desperation on her face, he decided to let her stay in his room. But little did he know that the clock was ticking and the baby was due any moment.

Panicked

Pandemonium broke out on her third day of stay when labour pains sent her wailing.
Being her first time to give birth, she was confused and didn’t know what to do. She, therefore, expected the young man to take charge. But the equally confused and panicked man vanished, leaving her to give birth to a baby boy in the tiny hostel room and scaring away his roommate, who immediately fled for alternative accommodation.

Sources indicate that she was rushed to a hospital in Eldoret town due to health related complications that followed her delivery. But the male student revealed to an accomplice that he was reluctant to take her to the institution’s dispensary for fear of being ridiculed by colleagues for impregnating yet another First Year student.

“He told me he was embarrassed by the whole thing and didn’t want to be linked to her pregnancy. That is probably why he did not take her to the dispensary,” said a course mate.

hiding

The scandalised fellow has since gone into hiding fearing suspension from the institution for hosting an outsider because a student out of session is treated as a non-student, and should not reside in the institution’s hostels according to university rules.
